Faith in Father

In Hebrews chapter 11, the chapter of faith says that without faith, it is impossible to please God. He who comes to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. To believe that "God is" implies believing that God exists and is who he says he is.

In Matthew chapter 6, when the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, he replied, "In this manner, therefore pray: Our Father in heaven..." In John chapter 20, when Jesus rose from the dead, he told Mary Magdalene, "go to my brothers and tell them I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God." These statements and many more by Jesus tell us that God is our Father.

When we're born into the world, and the people caring for us tell us to call them mommy and daddy, we do it. We do it because we believe they are our parents; despite not having proof, we accept it. So much so that when we ask for something, we ask in faith, trusting that they are who they say they are.

In the same way, God is our Father, who gives us life in our spirit through his son Jesus Christ. So when we come to him, he says, believe that he is our Father and put our faith in his words. Not because he's proven it (even though he has proven it through Jesus Christ), but because Jesus, the initiator and the finisher of our faith, said so; this acceptance is faith in God.

Faith does not need physical evidence because faith alone is evidence. In the same chapter, verse one says, "…faith is the evidence of things not seen." Therefore, our trust in the words of Jesus that God (whom we can not see) is our Father is evidence that God is Father, and this is the faith that pleases him.

When the Father is pleased, you will receive whatever you ask because you are asking in faith, or should I say you're asking in Jesus' name - the one from whom faith comes. Therefore, the next time you go to God for anything, be it for prayer, a request, provision, or revelation - see him as your Father and receive. As Jesus said in Matthew chapter 12, "...it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."

Amen.
